The Goods and Services Tax (GST) is a tax that pertains to both goods and services. GST is an indirect tax that was established to substitute a range of other indirect taxes such as excise duty, service tax, VAT, purchase tax, and so on. GST is a tax levied in India on the supply of certain goods and services. It is a single tax imposed across the nation.

The Ministry of Finance made the GST registration process much easier to do online. The GST Website is where the application can complete the GST registration. The portal generates GST ARN immediately after the application is submitted. 

The applicant can check the status of his or her application and, if necessary, pose questions using the GST ARN. The online registration has a few steps that should be followed to smoothly get through the process. One should remember a few important things while the online GST registration process: there will be no fee if you finish the GST Registration process online. An Application Reference Number (ARN) will be sent through SMS and email to confirm the registration once all necessary documents are uploaded. If you do not pay tax or pay less than what is due, you will be fined a penalty of 10% of the money owed (in case of genuine errors). The minimum penalty, however, is Rs. 10,000.

If you have not enrolled for GST and are trying to dodge tax, the penalty levied is 100% of the due tax amount.
