Sandakphu is the highest peak situated in the eastern state of West Bengal in India.

Best time to do Sandakphu Trek

Summer is the best season to visit Sandakphu for enjoying adventurous trekking. From March to May the temperature of the region is ideal. During this region, the temperature is moderately between 12 to 20 degree Celsius. These months even indicate the coming of spring which allows you to witness ample flowers blooming throughout the region. 


Sandakphu Trek


The trek is a splendid 51 km long way up the hill, insinuating from Manebhanjan. Sandakphu is also known as the "mountain of poisonous plants" because of the ample amount of Himalayan Cobra Lilies here. Since this is a difficult trek, it is advisable to undertake it only after ensuring your complete fitness. Starting and ending point of the Sandakphu trek


The tremendous trek begins from NJP / Bagdogra to Sepi. The trekkers then move from Sepi to Samanden and then from Samanden to Molley. Followed by the Trek from Molley to Sabargram via Phalut, this beautiful site will leave the trekkers mesmerized. On day 5 of the trek, the trekkers move from Sabargram to Aal. Followed by Trek from Aal to Gurdum. On the last day the trekker Treks from Gurdum to Sepi.

And here begins the return journey and trekkers begin their return journey to NJP. 

The 7 day's wonderful trek comes to an end there. You will be rejuvenated and refreshed at the end. 


The difficulty level of the trek


The Sandakphu trek is considered of moderate level. The trails and terrains that the trekkers come across are not rough but lengthy which requires a certain level of endurance, otherwise, the trek will be tiresome for amateurs. 

There are around two days when you need to cover 14 km and 17 km, which can be difficult for some trekkers. The trails that follow are undulating rather than steep.
