Back in 2009 (later RS gold was considered"dead" due to wildy elimination ), a few servers are so crowded that Runescape was really literally unplayable. Killing a boss was practically inconceivable to me because were mid-level slayer and skilling. Some of these experiences are different because of me being liberated to play in the time but I only presumed that the once far-fetched dreams like having the ability to play RuneScape onto a cell phone became possible, they'd have fixed the host instability problems that made Runescape impossible to perform with.

I do not understand since I play with Old School as 21, what people are talking about with Old School servers and these servers are spaghetti. The OSRS servers are so bad that you are able to perish to slayer creatures that are superior because Runescape will freeze for 20 minutes or more. Not precisely. Why it is so, I can not really explain, but it definitely makes a huge difference. So much so in actuality, that at OSRS some catchy people realized cash can be duplicated by them if they made the server crash. The result? They made a literal shit ton of alts (they filled the server into the 2k cap, or quite close to it.) And put those balances. After in soul wars, they made as it strove to calculate all those hits in such a tiny area, all the alts fight with each other, creating huge strain.

Ice Poseidon's other example I gave is documented too, you can even find it in videos. You will still lag if you teleport from lumbridge, but not as severely. I'm not a software guy, but I would presume that specific areas overloading that area means you would overload that particular piece of hardware and would be delegated to a specific CPU on the system of Jagex. Within an mmo such as RS not every player's customer needs to have understanding of participant in the world, so to other gamers around them participant upgrades will be only sent by a server in a bid for efficacy.

This system works nicely in an open world game where gamers are usually distributed for decreasing strain. If the players are all focused in 1 place, however, it usually means that every player in that area needs knowledge of every other participant in that area. The resources (mostly cpu time) required to update every player with their known local players activities grow exponentially due simply to the nature of the task. When they had been spread out Meaning that having gamers lumped in 1 place puts a lot more strain on the servers would.

They just have not upgraded the server hardware in the afternoon, but keep increasing Runescapes load demand per player. We used to have to sit out varrock west Bank spamming talk to sell or purchase what we needed for p2p on earth 1 for two or f2p. Now if more than 200 people are in the 3 chunks next to eachother it starts to bog since its loading their decorative effects the 200 players, their pets, and their cosmetic effects. Which all take more than 2x more processing power than it did in 2007. And thats not to mention the graphical overhaul to the environment and also npcs. Envision because its so populated everyone starts trying to show off emotes or cosmetics. So the server should relocate processing power to that too. All on some hardware that has gotten minimal upgrades to keep it operating.Right, I will instead see world community building in RS3. Final Fantasy XIV now has a world event like this in which you help reconstruct a town that is demolished and you get special recipes and cosmetic rewards that you can just unlock by helping with the building. Something like RuneScape to rebuild broken down cities are great. We have the Christmas cracker thingie in RS3. This type of events can be building blocks for permanent construction content, but that I believe we add new structures like supermarkets and hospitals with perks and buffs to OSRS buy gold present cities like Varrock and Falador instead of rebuilding a demolished city.
