The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main is the most important entrance exam for admission to undergraduate engineering courses in India. It is a national level examination conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) for admission to engineering colleges in India. The JEE Main provides two types of admissions: 1. Direct Admission to Engineering Colleges: Students who qualify in the JEE-Main are admitted directly to bachelor’s degree Programs in Engineering and Technology. 2. Admission Through JEE Advanced: Students who qualify in the JEE-Main can also take up the JEE Advanced exam, which is held on a different date, and if they qualify, they get admission into India’s best engineering institutions – IITs (Indian Institutes of Technology). The Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) are a group of engineering and technology universities in India. They were set up with the aim to provide a high-quality education in these areas, as well as to generate research, particularly in science and technology. The IITs are governed by a board called the IIT Council, which is chaired by the Union Minister of Human Resource Development. The Union Minister is assisted by an advisory committee known as the IIT Board. The Director of each IIT acts as an ex-officio member and chairman of its Academic Council.
