When we discovered this amazing Vintage Rock n Roll-themed wedding, we'd to get in touch with beautiful bride Helen for more information. Their Spring wedding occurred at the stunning, industrial-themed West Mill in Derby. Here Helen informs us all about this…

We met on the night out in Lincoln within the smoking section of a nightclub, despite neither people being smokers. He was relaxed and entertaining - everything my past boyfriends hadn't been! He offered me a love heart that night with 'Marry me' written onto it, so that as they say the remainder is history. We were then together for 4 years and I was pregnant with this daughter when he proposed on vacation in Santorini.

For me, the look was both fun and stressful, attempting to ensure everything was very 'us' and never compromising or conforming as to the others wanted or expected. It was important to us the wedding was modern, fun, and different as all of us have been to plenty of weddings and I wanted ours to become memorable and unique. I did a little bit of research on Pinterest but didn't make use of wedding fairs or magazines.

The theme was vintage, rock n roll. We had an incredible band who I found busking and went up and asked when they would play inside my wedding. We had drinks outside within the venue's courtyard, a buddy playing electric guitar and singing, graffiti artists doing our portraits, and décor that incorporated skulls and feathers which fascinate me.

The dress I chose was by FeelTimes. I had seen it years back and always knew it had been the one for me. It was everything I wanted a vintage, elegant and understated, yet had something 'Hollywood glamour' about this. I knew I didn't want white, princess wedding dresses. I did try on the few other dresses, however, it always returned to this one and it had been perfect.

My favorite area of the wedding was straight following the vows chatting to any or all my loved ones and feeling amazing. We had our photos within the same courtyard where everybody was mingling, therefore, we didn't feel in addition to the celebrations. Here we also had canapes brought round, one of these being sushi my favorite food from my travels to Japan – another personal touch.

One thing that ended up better than expected was the very first dance which I didn't wish to accomplish as I felt it might be awkward, but the photographer talked me directly into it saying I might regret it. So, the DJ remixed Nirvana Smells Like Teen Spirit and everyone joined in in the end – it had been so joyful!

I must provide a mention to Bethany Jayne Davies who did mine and my bridesmaid's AMAZING hair! It was precisely what I wanted and when I could wear my hair like this every day I would. I also was built with a hairpiece by Donna Crain and flowers by Nadia Di Tullio. A lovely touch was that my pal and colleague Elizbeth made our perfect cake.

My top tip for brides is always to have the best photographer and videographer you really can afford always! It's the one thing you can keep. Also, if you really can afford it don't take into account money, you won't be thinking annually after the wedding about what you spent however, you might regret not receiving something you wanted.
