What is a sewage pumping station?

  How Submersible Sewage Pump works

A submersible Sewage Pump consists of a network of pipes that carry sewage from homes and businesses to major sewers. Usually, the pipe network relies on gravity to allow waste to flow into the main sewer.

However, in low-lying areas where the main sewage pipeline is located on a higher ground than the domestic sewage pipeline, sewage needs to be transported to the main sewage pipeline in a different way. This is where the sewage pumping station comes in.

What is a sewage pumping station and how does it work?

The pumping station consists of a large water tank called a wet well, which can be used as a receiver for sewage from a building or a group of buildings. Sewage from various houses flows into wet wells.

The sewage will then be discharged into the well until it reaches a predetermined level. Once this level is reached, the pump will be activated to pressurize the sewage so that the sewage flows from the wet well, into the upper ramp, into the main sewer, or it can then use gravity to enter the sewer.
