A sealed Gel Battery is usually the same as the ordinary lead-acid battery used to start the car, except that the battery cell contains gel instead of liquid. Gel batteries are considered safer because the gel will not overflow if the casing is damaged, but liquid-based batteries will leak sulfuric acid if the casing is damaged. Gel batteries are sealed, so unlike liquid-based batteries, you cannot use these batteries. The best way to repair and restore Sealed Gel Battery is to discharge it as much as possible, and then charge it slowly.

  step 1

Before fixing and restoring the battery, check whether the battery is exhausted. Turn on the lights and other electrical equipment of the car to use all the power in the battery. When the battery is almost dead, the light will dim. It is not necessary to discharge the battery completely. After the lights are dimmed, immediately turn them off and any other electrical devices you previously turned on.

  Step 2

Squeeze the grip handle at the end of the black cable from the battery charger by hand to open the jaws. Place the open jaws on the gel battery terminals marked "-" or "Neg", then release the pressure to close the jaws and tighten the terminals. Repeat the process using the clip at the end of the charger's red cable, but place it on the battery terminal marked "+" or "Pos."

  third step

Check the front of the charger to determine which charging settings can be set. It is very important to charge a non-Sealed Maintenance-Free Battery at the lowest charging setting. Do not use "boost" or "fast charge", otherwise the battery may be damaged.

  Step 4

Set the charger to the lowest setting; usually labeled "tri stream". Some chargers have specific settings for gel batteries, so if you have one, please use it. If there is no gel or trick flow charging setting, please make sure that the charging rate is 20% lower than the output voltage of the gel battery. This voltage is clearly marked on the battery, which is usually 12 volts. Taking 12 volts as an example, you need to charge the battery with a voltage of 10 volts or lower.

  Step 5

Plug the battery charger into the power source. Turn on the charger, and then charge the battery. After 6 hours, please feel the side of the battery. If the temperature is high, you can continue charging, but if it feels hot, turn off the charger and let the battery cool down for about 30 minutes. Then turn on the charger again.

Continue to charge the battery, but check it every six hours to make sure it is not too hot. After 24 hours, your gel battery is fixed, restored, and fully charged, so please turn off the charger. Disconnect the two clips on the battery terminals.
